Training: Week 4

Another week down and everything is looking good. I was even given a clean bill of health from the Physio yesterday, so things are looking up!

This last week was pretty much the same as the previous one with a short run and a gentle cycle. I also had a recovery walk after the 11 miles of the weekend.

The weather meant my longer run was on the Wednesday and not the Thursday as it was too windy and wet to get out on a bike safely.

The big test was the weekend though with a half-marathon distance run. I made it round no problem, and the average split time was 9:17 which is quicker than the week before’s 11 miles. So I should be pleased, the trouble is I am outside the times I was doing last year by a long way. The first half I ran last year in  August was a 1hr 54min, and my best last year was 1hr 46min. I was 2hr 2min on Saturday which is way down. I have to remind myself that 7 weeks ago I could only run for a minute at a time, and here I am running 2hrs+ in one go!

Another test this weekend with 14 miles before I get my first easier week. With switching training plans after the first 2 weeks and having to catch up I have missed the first easy week, so looking forward to something a bit more relaxed!

I am also hoping that the new trainers and GPS/HRM watch will be here next week ready for the resumption of the build up runs!
